Your Charter Experiences

Charters are charged at a daily rate of 270 Euros per person based on a minimum of 4 sharing.

Children under 12 years old will be offered a reduced rate.

  • What is the best time to visit Nosy Be?

    April to October 

  • How many guests can the catamaran accommodate?

    6 – there are 3 double cabins. From a comfort perspective a max of 4 adults and 2 children is suggested.


  • Are meals included?

    The charter offers 3 meals per day.


  • Can you cater to dietary requirements?

    Yes, we will cater as best we can to meet your dietary requirements but please bear in mind the produce is sourced locally and being an island some food is not always available.


  • Is snorkeling equipment provided?

    Basic snorkelling equipment is available however if you are an avid snorkeller and require specialised equipment it is advisable that you bring your own.


  • Do I need to be an experienced sailor?

    No, you do not need to be a sailor nor do you have to have sailed before.  It’s our job to make the experience special and perhaps after this trip you will want to become one!


  • Do children join charters?

    Children are welcome but it is advisable that they are able to swim as not yacht is “kiddy proof”  - suggested age would be from 6 years old.


  • How do I book?

  • Does the yacht have aircons? 

    No, only fans. 


  • Does the yacht have wifi? 

    Yes, starlink. Please be advised that we do sometimes have intermittent signal. 


  • Can I charge my mobile phone and laptop? 

    Yes, remember to bring chargers. 

  • Can we wear shoes on the yacht? 

    No shoes are allowed to be worn onboard. 


  • Do I need a visa to travel to Madagascar from South Africa? 

    Yes, most nationalities require a visa, you can purchase a tourist visa at the airport on arrival.  The cost ranges from 10 – 35 Euros depending on the duration of your stay. 


  • Do I require travel insurance? 

    Discretionary but strongly advise that you take it. 


  • Do I require medical insurance?

    Discretionary but strongly advise that you take it. 


  • Are there any medical facilities? 

    Yes, there is a hospital and some clinics on the island of Nosy Be and in addition to that A.B.F. crew have the contact details of a local Doctor. 

  • What is the currency in Madagascar and where do I get it from? 

    The local currency is Ariary,  Euros are also welcomed. There is a Forex desk at the airport. 

  • Are there supermarkets, ATM’s and pharmacies? 

    Yes, yes and yes.  Please speak to Mamadou on arrival or your booking agent before getting to Nosy be so that your taxi can take you before you set sail. 


  • Should I take prophylactics for malaria? 

    Discretionary, Madagascar is a malaria area so please consult with your healthcare provider a few weeks before travelling. 


  • Can we drink tap water? 

    No, guests are provided with a bottle of water per day and if you require extra water it can be purchased from Mamadou. 


  • What are absolute essentials for my “must bring” list? 

    Suncreams, after sun cream, hats, rash vests, mosquito repellents, comfortable walking shoes, shoes that can get wet, rock shoes, dry bag, sanitiser, a light anorak, 


  • Can we listen to music? 

    Yes, the sound system has bluetooth. 


  • Do we tip crew?

    Answer is "yes! Please do. As much as they are paid a monthly salary these gents go above and beyond to make your experience unforgettable. They thrive on praise. The amount is at your discretion.
